West Footscray Writers Fest: Publishing as Resistance
With funding for publishing and the arts facing increasing political censorship, avenues to share marginalised voices are dwindling. This conversation, hosted by Esther Anatolitis, focusses on finding independent pathways to publishing to ensure voices under oppression are still shared and heard. With Kirsty Wilson, Sam Biddle and Dr Yves Rees.
Trans Book Festival x Lantana: The Book that Made Me Trans
Did seeing gender diversity on the page crack your egg or nudge you out of the closet? Around the world, queer books are being banned from libraries and schools, lest they ‘corrupt’ children and young people. But what if we flipped the script and celebrated the power of literature to help us become our truest selves? In this intimate evening of storytelling, hosted by Lantana literary journal, top trans and gender diverse writers share the book that made them trans. Featuring Xiaole Zhan, Jack Nicholls, Bri Fallen, Stone Motherless Cold, and Kai Ash, hosted by Yves Rees (Lantana).
